Trades
Pick Your Trade. Then see exactly how we help.
Every trade has its own version of the same problem: the work is fine, the business is the hard part. These pages are written trade by trade, in the language of the job, so you can see what changes before you commit to anything.

The week this is about
It Is The Same Story In Every Trade.
The office work starts when the day ends
You finish on site at five and the quoting, the invoicing and the callbacks start at seven. The business only gets you when you are already spent, which is why it never moves forward.
Busy all year, nothing to show
The diary is full, the crew is flat out and the bank account never reflects it. Turnover keeps climbing and the number at the bottom does not, and nobody has ever shown you where it goes.
It all still runs through you
Every quote, every decision, every awkward phone call. Take a week off and the whole thing slows to a stop, so you do not take the week off, and that is the trap.
Another year of this is another year of the business owning you, and the hours you are putting in now are the ones you never get back.
Twelve trades
Find Yours.
Each page covers the seven ways we help that trade, written against how that trade actually makes and loses money.
Electricians
You are quoting at 9pm, chasing a builder for progress claims, and still on the tools.
See how we helpPlumbers
You are still taking the 2am blocked drain call, because nobody else in the business can.
See how we helpBuilders
Carrying the cost escalation, the unsigned variations and the progress claim nobody has paid.
See how we helpCarpenters
You can frame a house in a week. Getting paid for it takes months of chasing.
See how we helpHVAC Technicians
Flat out through summer, dead through winter, and the licence paperwork never lets up.
See how we helpRoofers
Hail week fills the diary, the wet week empties it, and the margin lands wherever it lands.
See how we helpLandscapers
Quoting off a sloping block, chasing green waste fees, and the spring rush eating your margin.
See how we helpPainters
You quote by the square metre, then lose three days to prep nobody paid you for.
See how we helpTilers
Last trade on site, first blamed for the leak, and squeezed on your rate per square metre.
See how we helpConcreters
The truck is booked, the crew is on site, and you still are not sure the job makes money.
See how we helpSolar Installers
You install the systems, chase the STCs, and still wonder where the margin went.
See how we helpPlasterers
Quoting per square metre off what the last builder paid, and hoping the margin is in there.

Seven Ways, Whatever You Swing.
Every trade page runs through the same seven. What changes is the example, because a roofer and a solar installer lose money in completely different places.

Worth knowing
Two Things That Apply To Every Trade Business.
Businesses in the building and construction industry that pay contractors must lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report by 28 August each year, reporting every contractor payment made in the previous financial year.
Since 26 August 2024, whether an Australian worker is an employee or an independent contractor is decided by the real substance and practical reality of the whole working relationship, not by what the contract calls them.
