The week this is about

Sound Like Your Electrical Business?

The good ideas die in the van

You work out on the drive home exactly what you need to fix in the business. By the time you have unloaded, eaten and answered three quote texts it is gone, and next week looks the same as this one.

You ask the trade groups and get twelve answers

You post a pricing question in a Facebook group and get replies from a first year, a bloke in another state and someone selling software. Nobody knows your numbers, and half the advice would put you under on the next job.

Every business tool wants a subscription

Job management, estimating, scheduling, invoicing: each one wants a monthly fee before you have seen whether it fits an electrical business your size. You end up paying for three and using none of them properly.

You keep having the same thought on the same drive home, and nothing changes, because the business only improves when the learning is somewhere you can reach it.

Questions

Electrician Business App, Answered.

Is the Tradies App really free, or free until it asks for a card?
It is free with an active ABN in Australia and New Zealand. You get lessons, the members community and business tools at no cost. The Learning Hub, which opens the full lesson library, is $199 per month if you want it, and there is no obligation to take it.
I am a sole trader sparkie. Is there anything in it for me?
Yes, and arguably more. A one van electrical business lives or dies on rate, quoting speed and getting paid, and those are the lessons owners open first. The community is full of contractors who were where you are two years ago. It costs nothing to look, so download it and see.
Does the Tradies App work in New Zealand?
Yes. The Tradies App is free with an active ABN in Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand electricians register with the Electrical Workers Registration Board and hold a separate practising licence, and Australian licence holders convert through the TTMRA pathway, but the business side of the training applies either side of the Tasman.
