Quoting and winning work
How to build a quote that converts, stop losing jobs on price alone, and get the full value out of every job you already attend.

A quote is not a price list. It is the last thing a customer reads before deciding whether they trust you, and most are lost long before the number is the problem: trust was never built on the first call, the proposal was a single vague total, or nobody followed up.
The lessons here treat conversion as a process rather than a talent. Build trust on the phone before you attend. Present the price itemised, so the customer can see what they are buying instead of guessing at a lump sum. Show the discount even when you were always going to give it. Then follow up, repeatedly, because the quote you never chased is indistinguishable from the quote you lost.
Two of them deal with the pressure that makes owners discount. Bundling labour, materials and markup into one fixed price per item is what stops a client comparing your hourly rate against the cheapest number they can find, because your hourly rate is no longer visible to compare. And a quote checker, run against your real cost of operations and your actual efficiency rate, tells you before you send it whether the job is profitable at all. One mistake in that calculation is enough to make a full day unprofitable.
