Business Foundations · With Greg Allan

Built for trade business owners. The foundations nobody taught you.

Your apprenticeship taught you the trade. Nobody taught you pricing, hiring or cash flow. Get those right and every job pays, the business runs the same whether you're there or not, and your nights come back.

By application. The Academy's full, so you join the waitlist first. Membership is quoted straight in the interview, not from a pricing page.

Why Greg

You speak to the owner who has already done it.

Greg built Response Electricians in Perth into a 30+ staff business with 1,950+ five-star reviews. A general manager runs it.

He has trained 9,000+ trade business owners across Australia and New Zealand.

He grew a coaching company to 35 staff, a CEO and 15 coaches, then cut it back so every owner deals with him directly.

Most coaching companies hand you to a salesperson, then to a coach who has never run a trade business. Here you get the owner.

The Academy is full because it works, and Greg keeps it small on purpose so every business gets looked at properly, by him. He reads every application himself, interviews the owners who fit and only takes on owners who are building for the right reasons and give back to the group. Join the waitlist and he'll be in touch when a place opens.

Illustration: a trade business owner standing over three office staff buried in paperwork at night.
The old way

More customers meant more people doing the computer work, and more wages nobody invoices.

Illustration: a tradesman shaking hands with a homeowner in her driveway, his phone showing jobs quoted and invoiced.
The new way

You stay with your customers and your team. The office stops landing on you.

The old way

More jobs. More paperwork. Less of the owner left.

Most trade businesses grow the same way.

More jobs means more quoting, invoicing, chasing and scheduling.

None of it gets paid for.

So the owner does it at night, after a full day on site.

Or hires an office person to do it.

The office grows. The wages grow. The margin does not.

And the owner is still the one everything waits on.

Where we take you

More work. More profit. More of you left.

The phone rings with the jobs you want, at the price you set.

You grow when you're ready, never faster than the business can carry.

Every job is priced to make money, so the busy months show up in the bank.

The best tradies in your area want to work for you, and they stay.

The chasing, the paperwork and the 9pm admin stop landing on you.

The business runs the day. You pick which parts of it you're in.

Bigger, without the headaches. Getting bigger stops meaning getting busier.

The real problem

You're constantly reacting to problems

Most trade business owners spend their days putting out fires because the right systems were never put in place. The problems feel different every week, but the root cause is always the same: missing foundations.

A trade business owner in his yard at seven in the morning pulled three ways at once, phone at his ear, an apprentice waiting on him and the ute still half loaded

Reactive chaos every day

Every morning starts with a crisis. A job runs over, a supplier falls through, a team member calls in sick, and suddenly the whole day is derailed. You never get ahead because you're always catching up.

No real systems in place

You know the business needs structure, but right now everything runs on memory, habit and gut feel. There's no documented way of doing things, which means every task depends on you personally.

Doing everything yourself

You're the estimator, the project manager, the accountant, the HR department and the person on the tools. The business can't function without you, and that's the opposite of freedom.

Working hard, not profitably

Revenue looks decent on paper but there's nothing left at the end of the month. Without financial visibility, proper pricing or margin tracking, you're busy but not building wealth.

Great on the tools, never taught business

You did your apprenticeship, got your licence and learned your trade inside out. But nobody taught you how to quote profitably, read a P&L, manage a team, or build a business that doesn't depend on you swinging a tool belt every day.

Huge days and can't switch off

You're first on site and last to leave, then you go home and do the admin. There aren't enough people to delegate to, so every problem lands on you. The business runs your life instead of the other way around.

Why it sticks this time

You've tried the rest. This is where it finally sticks.

A YouTube video here, a template there, a course you got halfway through. None of it stuck, because none of it was built for how a trade business actually runs, and nobody was there to get you through it.

What you have tried

  • YouTube videos and free content that never connects the dots
  • Generic business courses built for retail, SaaS and everything except trades
  • Self-paced content you started strong and never came back to
  • Advice from mates who are in the same reactive cycle as you
  • Static templates and frameworks with no one to help you apply them

Why this one sticks

  • Built for how a trade business actually runs, not retail or tech
  • Worked out inside Response Electricians first, with real money on the line
  • Someone who built a trade business to 30+ staff and stepped off the tools, there every week
  • A room of owners who've already fixed what you're stuck on
  • You see it working in your own business, so you keep going

What gets fixed

Six things every trade business has to get right

Get these six right and the business stops depending on you. Most owners guess at them for years and pay for the guessing.

Business structure and setup

A business set up properly underneath you, goals you can actually see, and an owner's week instead of a tradie's. It's the shift from doing the work to running the business.

Financial literacy and management

You know where every dollar goes and what every job makes before you say yes to it. Cash flow stops being a surprise and the busy months show up in the bank.

Operations and systems

Jobs run the same way every time, because the day stops depending on you remembering everything.

Sales and marketing

Work that keeps coming, from the jobs you actually want, without hoping word of mouth holds up this month. Growth you choose, at a pace the business can carry.

People and team building

A crew good tradies want to join, who do the job right without you on every site, and stay. The first hire that buys your freedom is a qualified tradesperson, not an apprentice.

Strategy and growth

A clear picture of where the business is going, from working in it to working on it, and one day stepping out of it altogether. This is the path from operator to owner.

What your week looks like after

The week stops running you.

Once the foundations are in, the business runs the day and you pick which parts of it you're in.

Monday morning

The crew knows where they're going and what each job's worth, and the phone isn't ringing for you before seven.

Midweek

A quote goes out at a price that makes money, and you don't lie awake wondering if it'll cover the job.

Friday arvo

The invoices are out, the admin's done and you're home for dinner. The weekend's yours.

Why there's a waitlist

It's full because it works.

  • 9,000+ owners trained
  • 4.9 stars from 123 Google reviews
  • Built inside Response Electricians: 30+ staff, run by a general manager
  • Small on purpose, so your business gets looked at properly
  • Every application read by me, every interview done by me

Is this you?

Built for owners who want structure

New to it or ten years in without formal training, this is what replaces the chaos with something you control.

This is for you if

  • You're a trade business owner who spends most of the day reacting to problems
  • You have never had formal business training and want to build the right foundations
  • You're doing everything yourself and want systems that create time freedom
  • You want to understand your numbers, price properly and actually make profit
  • You're ready to learn from someone who has built and systemised a real trade business

This isn't for you if

  • You want a quick fix and aren't willing to put in the work each week
  • You think your business problems will solve themselves over time
  • You aren't willing to change how your business operates
  • You compete on price and plan to keep doing so
  • You're already highly systemised and looking for advanced scaling support

Your trainer

Built by an owner. Delivered by an owner.

Greg Allan is the founder of Tradies Success Academy and owner of Response Electricians: an electrical business with 30+ staff, 1,950+ five-star reviews, premium pricing, and a GM who runs the operation without Greg needing to be there.

Everything in Business Foundations was worked out inside Response Electricians first, the hard way and with real money. You get the version that worked, from an owner who stepped off the tools himself, because the foundations are the part most owners skip.

This isn't theory from someone who read a book. It's the exact playbook from a business that works.

What changes

What the business looks like once the foundations are in

The same yard running calmly, the crew loading their own utes while the owner stands to one side with a coffee, not needed

Financial visibility

You will know exactly what every job costs, what your margins are, and where the money is going. No more guessing whether you're actually making profit.

Operational structure

The business runs the same whether you're there or not, so a day off is just a day off.

Time freedom

When the foundations are in place, you stop being the bottleneck. You get your time back: to grow the business, to be with your family, or to step away entirely.

Out of the middle of everything

Every week you leave it, the same problems come back around.

Between sessions

You're never working it out on your own

The weekly room is the anchor. Everything behind it is there so the next problem gets sorted the day it turns up, not the month after.

With me

A live room every week

Bring the week you actually had and leave knowing the next move, alongside owners who've already been there.

Any time

The answer the night you need it

The Learning Hub covers pricing, money, hiring, marketing and leadership, so when something lands you look it up instead of guessing.

Every day

Owners who get it

Trade business owners across Australia and New Zealand who've fixed what you're stuck on, and who'll tell you what worked.

Your pace

A flat-out week never sets you back

When the work's on and you miss a week, you're not behind. Pick it up when you're ready and keep going.

The room

The owners you'd be alongside

Somebody in this room has already fixed what's costing you money this month. That's the point of being in it.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Who runs the sessions?
I do, every one. I own Response Electricians: 30+ staff, 1,950+ five-star reviews, and a GM running the day-to-day.
Is this a fixed course with set lessons?
No. It's one live session with me every week, a mix of deep dives, Q&A and problem-solving on the six areas, and the angle changes week to week. The Learning Hub is included if you want the self-paced side too: 62 courses and 567 lessons.
What if I have been in business for years?
Most owners never had formal business training. They learned on the job and built habits that work but don't scale. This fills the gaps across finance, operations, people, sales and strategy.
What is the time commitment each week?
One live session a week on Zoom, plus what you implement. Every session is recorded. Most members get the time back, because systems replace firefighting.
What does the membership include?
Weekly live training with Greg Allan, the Learning Hub (62 courses, 567 lessons), the Tradies App community and every recording. Nothing on that list is a separate cost.
How do I join?
The Academy is at full capacity, so you join the waitlist first. When a place opens, I interview the owners who look like the right fit, and if we're a fit, I'll invite you in. I only take owners who are committed, disciplined and willing to learn something new.
How is this different from Freedom Fighter 1:1 or Tradie Teams?
Foundations is group training on the six areas every trade business needs. Tradie Teams is a small group in your trade. Freedom Fighter is private. All three include the Learning Hub and the community.

Ready for a business that pays you properly?

The Academy's full. Join the waitlist, and when a place opens I'll interview you myself: where you want the business to be, what's in the way, how we'd help and what it costs to join.
